“I was hooked on understanding how everything worked, how to troubleshoot it, and how i could make it better,” he said.
Today, Allen serves as IT Director, where he focuses on making technology easier for providers and staff, strengthening infrastructure and security, improving workflows, and integrating new technologies. He enjoys removing technical barriers so providers can work efficiently and keep their attention focused on their patients.
“Knowing technology can make an impact on patient care which is what I strive for—Patient Focused, Stronger Care,” he said.
One of Allen’s most rewarding experiences came after hours when he helped a provider regain access to critical systems so they could assist a concerned family with a potential medication reaction. For Allen, the experience reinforced how the work happening behind the scenes in IT can directly support patient care.
Allen is also passionate about mentoring his team and helping others develop their skills and advance their careers. His father, uncle, and grandfather shaped his approach to problem- solving by teaching him not to be afraid to take things apart, understand how they work, and try to fix them.
“They taught me that everything is worth trying,” he said. “It’s also okay to ask for help. Working as a team and learning from the people around you is one of the best resources for building something great.”
Outside of work, Allen enjoys riding and working on motorcycles, mountain biking, camping with friends, and tinkering with small electronics and older systems. One of his favorite projects was rebuilding a 1965 Vespa Sears Allstate scooter.
