Originally from Chapel Hill, NC, Elynor earned a BA in Public Health from Hampshire College in Amherst, MA and her MPH in Health Behavior from UNC-Chapel Hill. Through her master’s degree research and professional experience, she has managed regional programs on cardiovascular/cerebrovascular disease prevention, women’s health promotion, and culturally competent healthcare development.
Elynor also brings deep knowledge from over 13 years in the health insurance sector, first with Blue Cross North Carolina and then with Humana. In these roles, she worked on care management models, ER-reduction outreach campaigns, PCP value-based care, quality measures (Commercial, Medicare Advantage Star Ratings, HEDIS, Patient Experience-CAHPS/HOS), and payer-provider relationships at local and national levels. Elynor’s background in public health is at the root of all her work.
Elynor chose a career in Public Health after discovering the field during her first semester at college. Originally interested in Architecture and Art, she was drawn to the interdisciplinary nature of Public Health with its creativity in designing health studies and interventions that could impact an entire community. Her approach to her work is thus centered on patient-centered value, quality, and health outcome improvement. “Let’s build roots and wings—while learning, growing, and helping others.”
Outside of work, Elynor enjoys singing, dance, yoga, art, and learning foreign languages. On weekends you will find her at a bookstore, local garden, or spending time with her family.
